Adding to an already impressive range of marine sensors, RBR is excited to announce the launch of the RBRcoda OpH – a real-time optical pH sensor that measures the response of a pH-sensitive foil. It is engineered for high accuracy and high sensitivity across the oceanographic total pH scale.
Rated to depths of 6000m and best suited to mooring applications, the RBRcoda OpH is also a natural fit for ship-based measurements and standalone use on gliders and AUVs. It joins the RBRcoda family alongside sensors such as chlorophyll-a and dissolved oxygen, giving users another reliable, trivial-to-integrate option for biogeochemical monitoring.
Built for moorings and more
Compact and lightweight in a titanium housing, the RBRcoda OpH is designed for short- to mid-term deployments where reliability matters. Its dynamic range is optimised for real-world oceanographic pH measurement, and a built-in temperature channel both compensates the pH foil and provides an independent, high-accuracy temperature output.
When paired with an RBR instrument that also measures pressure and/or conductivity, pressure and salinity corrections are applied automatically for the highest accuracy. Deployed standalone, users can simply enter known pressure and salinity values in Ruskin.

Key performance features include:
-
Optimised dynamic range (7-9pHT)
-
High accuracy and high sensitivity
-
Low power consumption, with a sleep current of just 10µA
-
Depths up to 6000m
-
Cabled version with MCBH-6-MP / RS-232 output
-
Compact and lightweight titanium housing
Simple care, ready for the field
The RBRcoda OpH ships with a storage cap and downloadable calibration certificate, and the sensing foil is field-replaceable with a simple kit, so users can keep instruments in service season after season. Full care, storage, and foil-replacement instructions are available in the quick start guide (QSG) and RBR instrument guide (RIG) on our documentation site.

Integration without limits
Whether deployed on its own or alongside other RBR sensors, the RBRcoda OpH is designed for scientists and system integrators who need dependable, real-time pH data, from coastal moorings to the deep sea.
As always, RBR continues to make sense….
