On October 5, 2023, the RBR 50th Anniversary Roadshow made its third stop: the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) in Falmouth, MA. The event welcomed a diverse mix of scientists, post-doctoral researchers, students, engineers, and Argo community members to the David Center for Ocean Innovation for a series of presentations and RBR product updates.
Special thanks to Al Plueddemann, a long-time RBR customer, for his talk on the WHOI Upper Ocean Processes Group‘s extensive use of “Brancker TPODs” in the ‘80s, ’90s, and 2000s. The presentation perfectly complemented RBR President Greg Johnson’s personal insights into RBR’s intriguing history as an engineering firm in Ottawa’s Glebe district during the ’70s!
In addition, RBR Technical Sales Manager Susie Crowe provided a glimpse into life at RBR and shared valuable tips on instrument maintenance and deployment. The presentations also showcased RBR’s latest innovations, including new and in-development BGC sensors and the new RBRglissando underway profiling winch.
Congratulations to Bill Dullea, who won the grand prize of an RBR standup paddle board in the afternoon’s giveaways, and thank you to everyone who came out. It was a fantastic opportunity for the WHOI community to come together with RBR, enjoy some drinks and snacks, and unwind on a Friday afternoon.
